Gedeb Banko Taratu is located in the southern part of Ethiopia, specifically in the Gedeb District within the Gedeb Zone. It is one of the highest elevated coffee-growing areas in Ethiopia, with peak altitudes ranging from 1900 to 2300m. The harvest period goes from October to January. The variety of coffee is indigenous heirloom, and the coffee is named after the village itself.
The processing station works with more than 500 small families who own farms in Banko Taratu. Only the ripe cherries are picked from the trees. Once the cherries arrive at the processing station, the team carefully selects the best ones, removing any that are unripe, overripe or defective. This step is crucial to ensure a high-quality final product.Share
