Barista Training
Learn to make properly good coffee
There's a real difference between coffee that's okay and coffee that's genuinely great, and it usually comes down to the person making it.
At Chiasso, we've been roasting and brewing coffee since 1997. Our barista training sessions are run by people who make coffee every day, in a working espresso bar and micro roastery, on proper equipment.
Whether you're a café owner training new staff, a home espresso enthusiast trying to get more from your machine, or a teenager after your first barista job, we can help.
At Devonport HQ
Evening classes are held in our dedicated training room at Devonport HQ. Groups are kept small, with a maximum of four students, so you get plenty of machine time and proper hands-on coaching. Sessions run for two hours and cover everything from grinder setup and espresso extraction through to milk texturing, latte art and workflow.
- Beginner: grinder setup, dosing & tamping
- Intermediate: consistency, troubleshooting & workflow
- Advanced: latte art, sensory & speed
- Beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions available
At your café
We also come to you, anywhere in Auckland, to train your team on your own equipment, in your own space.
- Dial in your recipe and improve extraction consistency
- Milk texture and service speed
- Cleaning, maintenance & daily routines
- Especially useful for new staff, busy cafés, or teams that need everyone making coffee the same way
Who it's for
- Café and hospitality teams
- New hires needing a fast start
- Home espresso owners (any brand)
- Students looking for café work
- Anyone who wants to make better coffee
Private 1:1 coaching is also available if you'd prefer a more focused session.
